My name is Maya Hanley. Nowadays, I live in Carlow, Ireland. I came back to Ireland after 30 years abroad, having left Ireland at 19. The first place I lived was Gothenburg, Sweden for 5 years and after that California for 11 years. I then moved to the UK with the US company I was working for at the time and from there went to Botswana and Tanzania, ending up in Amsterdam and finally Morocco before moving back here in 2008. It's taken a while to settle back into Ireland but now I am loving being back here and learning about my homeland again.
My aim with this blog is to inform my readers about interesting places around the earth, the cultures, food, inside stories as well as information about various places, how to get there, what the simplest things are and how to avoid pitfalls.
In my spare time I like making stuff - knitting, sewing, tapestry and I have a passion for fabrics, collecting all over the place. One of these days I'll actually start to make things out of the collection!
